months after the los angeles wildfires and still no justice for survivors

It's been six months since the wildfires in Los Angeles, but there has still been no justice for the survivors of those fires. Hundreds of residents whose houses were either damaged or lost during the fires have been cheated out of the insurance coverage they had been paying into for years.  Many survivors insured their homes in the case of an emergency like wildfires, but once that emergency finally came, insurance companies like State Farm started to consistently deny and delay any fire-related insurance claims.

survivors take a stand

On Monday July 8th, the Eaton Fire Survivors Network (EFSN) hosted a press conference to call on California's Insurance Commissioner, Ricardo Lara, and Governor Newsom to hold insurance companies like State Farm accountable for their crimes against fire survivors. Due to the consistent organizing efforts of Fire Survivors, California's Department of Insurance was recently pressured to finally investigate State Farms handling of fire related claims. At their press conference, EFSN called on Governor Newsom and Insurance Commissioner Lara to expedite this investigation, to release all of their findings to the public, and put an end to any more rate hikes until fire survivors are compensated.

full compensation now!

Since California is the largest home insurance market in the country, the way the State and Insurance Companies treat fire survivors now will set a precedent for disaster response across the country. Unfortunately, California's top insurance regulators have a track record of putting the profits of insurance companies first before the well-being of ordinary people. This is why it is so important to shed light on the struggle of fire survivors and to organize for a complete change in leadership at the top of California's Department of Insurance. As a candidate for California's Insurance Commissioner, I stand in full solidarity with the demands of fire survivors and I’m building a campaign to take on the billion-dollar insurance industry. Corporations like State Farm are guilty of crimes against consumers and must provide full compensation for fire survivors now!
